Land Ahoy!
We walked around Cardiff Bay from the barrage to the Welsh Millennium Centre and saw lots of sights on the way.
We had fun playing in the seaside themed park.
At Saint Fagans we had our lunch and looked around the old buildings.
We have been investigating materials and grouping them. We learnt about natural and man made materials and investigated which materials float and sink. We used what we found out to make our own boats and we were able to choose from a variety of materials.
We had lots of fun making boats and they all float!
We have had a lovely sunny week and we have been making the most of the weather by doing lots of activities outside!
We have been playing in our new pirate ship role play area and we have acted out pirate stories. We have also worked hard writing our own pirate adventure stories too.
We all enjoyed Sports Day on Wednesday this week. Well done to everyone who took part!
We have introduced our new topic this week by talking about pirates. We have a pirate ship in our small world area and we have been learning the parts of the ship. We wrote descriptions of pirates and drew treasure maps using coordinates to plot the features of a treasure island. We also made our big floor puzzle showing a map of the world, it has been interesting to find out where different countries are.
We have been speaking lots of Welsh and have learnt some new words to describe activities at the seaside. Mrs James brought Floss the bear to school and we made little books 'Ar lan y mor' for her to read.
In our maths sessions we have been learning to count in fives by making towers of cubes. We have used the x symbol and have been practising our five times table too!
