The Games Room
This month we have been really busy with a range of different activities. We have opened up our Year 6 Games Room to reward all of the children's hard work and good behaviour. The Games Room is open from 12.15-12.45 each day. Every day twelve children are chosen from the class to visit the room and participate in the exciting games and activities that are available.
For example there is a pool table and air hockey games to play. There are a range of board games and fun activities to play. Children are really excited when their name is on the list to participate each lunchtime.
Even the teachers are jealous and want to take part!
Visitors into school.
We had Wilmott Dixon visit us in school this month. Wilmott Dixon are the building company who are in the middle of building the new Cardiff West High School, on the old Glyn Derw site. They carried out a range of investigations with us and we found out how buildings are constructed. We even had a go at designing pylons and cranes using paper and nuts and bolts. We found out that rolling the paper, increased its strength and we could build stronger cranes and pylons. It was great fun!
We also had a visit from the local police, they talked to us about drugs and keeping safe. They also told us about how strong peer pressure could be and we found out more information about both legal and illegal drugs.
