Class Teacher: Mr Young and Mrs O'Neill
Welcome back! We hope you had an relaxing Easter break.
The Summer term his going be very busy with lots of exciting lessons planned for the children and hopefully the weather will begin to improve!
Miss Clark left Pencaerau Primary School at the end of the Spring term. The staff and children would like to wish her all the best for the future.
Our topic this term is called "The Americas" During this topic we will be taking a tour of The Americas through time, learning about Native Americans, how they lived, where they settled and the different tribes. We will also look at the impact early explorers and settlers had on the Native Americans and the continent of America. As part of the topic we will also be studying the American Civil War, abolition of slavery, as well as segregation during the 20th Century and the assassination of Martin Luther King.
Some of the children from Year 5 have been having refresher swimming lesson over the couple of weeks at western Leisure Centre. The children have loved their experiences so far (apart from the walk down to the pool) but unfortunately all good things must come to an end. Mr Williams and Miss Powell have been very impressed with the children's progress since day one and the swimming instructors have also commented on how polite, well behaved and enthusiastic the children have been.
Well done Year 5.
