Teacher: Miss Boston

Higher Level Teaching Assistant: Mrs Lloyd

Monday 18th June - Friday 6th July

What a fantastic Friday we have had at Cardiff Bay Barrage, St Fagans Museum and Cardiff Castle.

Tuesday 5th June - Friday 16th June

Wow, we have been busy bees this past fortnight! We started

Tuesday 5th June by telling each other all about our favourite day in the holidays. Then, we wrote a recount of our favourite day. A few days late, we were lucky enough to have a visit from Techniques so that we could learn about the food groups. We learnt about how chocolate is made. Some of us ate mealworms and tried delicious smoothies!

Please see Techniques album for more photographs.

On Monday 11th June, we had a visit from Marine Biologists called Stu and Lewis. They taught us that corals are among the most important animals in the ocean. We now know that the living part of coral is made up of tiny creatures called polyps. We also made our on corals using clay, tissue paper and tooth picks.

Please see Marine Biology album for more photographs.

Monday 1st May- Friday 11th May

After a week of testing our minds are more curious than ever. We have been writing about what the word curiosity means to us.

Some children made Easter Bonnets at home and showed them off at the Easter Raffle.

Monday 5th March- Friday 16Th March

In Year 3 we are lucky enough to be taking part in a six week scheme that is run by Cardiff City. The last two sessions have focused on developing our skills in literacy. We have enjoyed using adjectives to commentate on football video clips.

Mrs Lloyd and I would like to thank all of those children who have made a fantastic effort at increasing the number of books you are reading at home.

Just a reminder that Year 3's PE is on a Tuesday and Thursday. Please could we remind you that it is essential for all pupils to wear appropriate kit for their PE lessons including sensible trainers and no jewellery is to be worn to ensure personal hygiene and safety.

Welcome back to Pencaerau. We hope you enjoyed your time off. It was so good to actually have some snow this year even if it was only a little bit. We are sure all the children (and parents) are glad to be back at school and ready to start learning lots of new and exciting things!

Our topic this term is:

Castles and Dragons

This project has a history focus and teaches children about aspects of the middle ages of Welsh history between 1063 and 1283, a period that is generally known as Medieval Times. In this project the children will learn about significant aspects of Welsh history. The project will explore lifestyles, homes and castles and their role in society. At the heart of this project children read, write and re-tell myths and legends and create their own stories in the same style. In this project the children will learn:.

The Magical Christmas Jigsaw

All the children have been working very hard over the last couple of weeks learning lots of songs, words and actions. This week, the children performed their Christmas Concert and they should all be very proud as they were fantastic!! They sang beautifully, spoke clearly and confidently with great acting! I'm sure all the parents that came to the concert would agree with how fantastic it was!
